Workshops

Not Another Essay: Exploring contemporary assessment ideas and examples

What?

Are you tired of marking essays and looking for inspiration for your next assessment?

In this workshop, join Dr Chris Browne and A/Prof Catherine Frieman as they look at some situations where essays and reports have been replaced with ‘Learning Portfolios’ and ‘UnEssays’ in subjects from archaeology to law to engineering. They will discuss the benefits (and some drawbacks) of this approach, and how they have scaffolded the experience for students. They will share practical examples of running this style of assessment in small and large classes, and provide some examples of student work.
